Practical tips
• Leave a long end at the beginning and end of each piece for sewing
• Sew seams with RS facing, using mattress stitch.
• The flowers are a good way to try out the basic crochet stitches but if you are not too keen on crochet, you can improvise by cutting out flowers from felt fabric.
Tension
24 sts and 32 rows for a 10 x 10 cm tension square (not essential).

With yarn A or B, cast on 12 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Purl.
Row 2: [Kl, kfb] 6 times. 18 sts
Row 3: Purl.
Row 4: [K2, kfb] 6 times. 24 sts
Row 5: Purl.
Row 6 (RS): Purl for edge.
Rows 7-13: Starting with a prow, work 7 rows in St st.
Row 14: [K2, k2tog] 6 times. 18 sts
Rows 15-21: Starting with a p row, work 7 rows in St st.
Row 22: [Kl, k2tog] 6 times. 12 sts
Break yarn A or B. Change to yarn C.
Row 23: Purl.
Row 24: [Kfb] in each st to end. 24 sts
Rows 25-27: Starting with a prow, work 3 rows in St st.
Row 28: KS, [k2tog, kl] 4 times, k2tog, kS. 19 sts
Rows 29-32: Starting with a prow, work 4 rows in St st.

Sleeves: make two

Arms: make two

Break yarn, thread through sts, pull tightly and fasten off.
Hat
With yarn A or B to match body, cast on 24 sts.
Rows 1-4: Starting with a p (WS) row, work 4 rows in St st.
Row 5: [K2, k2tog] 6 times. 18 sts
Row 6: Purl.
Row 7: [Kl, k2tog] 6 times. 12 sts
Row 8: Purl.
Row 9: [K2tog] 6 times. 6 sts
Break yarn, thread through sts, pull tightly and fasten off.
Flower: make two
With yarn G and working into a magic ring, 5 de, join with a ss in first st. 5 sts
Change to yarn F.
Rnd 1: (2 ch, 1 htr, 2 ch, ss) in first st, [(ss, 2ch, 1 htr, 2 ch, ss) in next st] 4 times.
Fasten off.
Leaves: make two
With yarn H, make 3 ch.
Starting in 2 nd eh from hook, 1 ss, 1 htr.
Fasten off.
To make up
With fastened-off yarn end of body, sew head to neck.
With cast-on yarn end, work a gathering thread along cast-on edge and draw tightly.
Sew base seam, sew up body a little further and stuff, avoiding neck area.
With yarn C, work a gathering thread along neck and draw tightly.
Seam arms without stuffing.
Wrap arm with sleeve, secure arm to cuff, and sew rest of sleeve seam.
Attach arms to body.
Thread a length of yarn D or E and make hair with long straight stitches.
Tie hair at sides.
With yarn C, French knot nose.
Attach eyes.
Seam hat and attach it to head.
Attach flowers and leaves referring to the photo.
Rub cotton buds with pastel and colour cheeks.
Strawberries
With yarn A or B, cast on 8 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Purl.
Row 2: [Kfb] 8 times. 16 sts
Rows 3-5: Starting with a prow, work 3 rows in St st.
Row 6: [K2, k2tog] 4 times. 12 sts
Rows 7-9: Starting with a prow, work 3 rows in St st.
Row 10: [K2tog] 6 times. 6 sts
Row 11: Purl.
Break yarn, thread through sts, pull tightly and fasten off.
Leaf cap
With yarn H or I and crochet hook, [make 3 ch, ss in first ch] 5 times. Fasten off.
To make up
Seam and stuff strawberry. Stitch together the ends of leaf cap and attach it to strawberry.
