Practical tips
• Leave a long end at the beginning and end of each piece for sewing.
• Sew seams with RS facing, using mattress stitch.
Tension
24 sts and 30 rows for 10 x 10cm tension square over St st (not essential).

Rows 7-10: Starting with a prow, work 4 rows in St st.
Cast off.
Baby: Head
With yarn D, cast on 7 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Purl.

Rows 3-9: Starting with a prow, work 7 rows in St st.

Break yarn, thread through sts, pull tightly and fasten off.
Baby: Beak
With yarn F, cast on 4 sts.
Row 1: Purl.
Row 2: [K2tog] twice. 2 sts
Row 3: P2tog and fasten off.
Baby: To make up
With cast-on yarn end of shell, work a gathering thread along cast-on edge and draw tightly. Sew seam to finished edge and stuff. Make up neck and head as for Mummy. Insert neck into shell opening and secure neck to shell.
