Practical tips
• Leave a long end at the beginning and end of each piece for sewing.
• Sew seams with RS facing, using mattress stitch.

Daddy: Body
With yarn A, cast on 6 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Purl.
Row 2: (Kfb) in each st to end. 12 sts
Row 3: Purl.
Row 4: K3, (kfb) 6 times, k3. 18 sts
Row 5: Purl.
Row 6: K6, (kfb) 6 times, k6. 24 sts
Row 7: Purl.
Row 8: K2tog, k5, kfb, k8, kfb, k5, k2tog.
Row 9: Purl.
Rows 10-15: Repeat rows 8-9 three times.
Change to yarn D.
Rows 16-19: Starting with a k row, work 4 rows in St st.
Change to yarn G.
Row 20 (neck): (K1, k2tog) to end. 16 sts
Change to yarn C.
Row 21: Purl.
Row 22: K4, (kfb, k1) 4 times, k4. 20 sts
Rows 23-25: Starting with a p row, work 3 rows in St st.
Row 26: K4, (k2tog, k1) 4 times, k4. 16 sts
Rows 27-29: Starting with a p row, work 3 rows in St st.
Row 30: (K2, k2tog) to end. 12 sts
Break yarn, thread through sts, pull tight and fasten off.
Daddy: Wings (make two)
With yarn A, cast on 12 sts.
Rows 1-7: Starting with a p (WS) row work 7 rows in St st.
Row 8: (K2, k2tog) to end. 9 sts
Row 9: Purl.
Row 10: K2, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k2. 7 sts
Row 11: Purl.
Break yarn, thread through sts, pull tight and fasten off.
Daddy: Beak
With yarn F, cast on 4 sts.
Row 1: Purl.
Row 2: Skpo, k2tog. 2 sts
Row 3: P2tog and fasten off.
Daddy: Feet (make two)
With yarn F, cast on 3 sts.
Rows 1-3: Starting with a p (WS) row, work 3 rows in St st.
Row 4: K1, kfb, k1. 4 sts
Row 5: Knit (for fold line).
Row 6: Knit.
Row 7: P1, p2tog, p1. 3 sts
Row 8: Knit.
Cast off.
Daddy: To make up
With fastened-off yarn end, seam head to neck. With cast-on yarn end, work a gathering thread along cast-on edge and draw tightly. Sew up body a little further and stuff body, then close seam. With yarn G, work a gathering thread along neck and draw tightly. Seam wings and without stuffing, attach them to body. Attach Beak. With yarn I, make French knots for the eyes. Fold feet at folding line and sew the edges together. Attach feet to body.
Mummy: Body
With yarn B, cast on 6 sts and work as for Daddy to row 15. 24 sts
Rows 16-17: Starting with a k row, work 2 rows in St st.
Using yarn B only throughout, work as for Daddy.
Mummy: Wings
Work as for Daddy, using yarn E.
Mummy: Beak, feet
Work as for Daddy.
Mummy: To make up
Work as for Daddy.
Duckling: Body
With yarn H, cast on 4 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Purl.
Row 2: (Kfb) in each st to end. 8 sts
Row 3: Purl.
Row 4: (K1, kfb) to end. 16 sts
Rows 5-9: Starting with a p row, work 5 rows in St st.
Row 10: (K1, k2tog) to end. 8 sts
Row 11: Purl.
Row 12: K1, (kfb) 6 times, k1. 14 sts
Rows 13-15: Starting with a p row, work 3 rows in St st.
Row 16: K3, (k2tog) 4 times, k3. 10 sts
Rows 17-19: Starting with a p row, work 3 rows in St st.
Break yarn, thread through sts, pull tightly and fasten off.
Duckling: Wings (make two)
With yarn H, cast on 6 sts.
Rows 1-2: Starting with a p (WS) row, work 2 rows in St st.
Row 3: P1, (p2tog) twice, p1. 4 sts
Break yarn, thread through sts, pull tight and fasten off.
Duckling: Beak
With yarn F, cast on 2 sts. P2tog and fasten off.
Duckling: To make up
Make up body as for Daddy. With yarn F, make small back stitches on top of the head, leaving a loop every other stitch. Repeat to make 3 loops. Cut loops and separate the strands.
