Leaf (Crochet)

This project can be done in any yarn in any weight. To make large and thick leaves, use aran or chunky weight yarn. To make smaller, more delicate leaves, use a 4-ply or DK weight yarn. Change the needle size accordingly.

Leaves

Make 12 chs. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, 1ss, 1dc, 1htr, 1tr, 4dtr, 1htr, 1dc, 1ss, make 5ch, starting in 2nd ch from hook, 1ss in each of next 4 ch, working on the other side of starting 12 ch, 1ss, 1dc, 1htr, 4dtr, 1tr, 1htr, 1dc, 1ss. Fasten off.

With a protective cloth placed over the motif, gently press flat with a steam iron.

Ladybird

Body:
Rnd 1: With yarn A and working into a magic ring, 6dc, join with a ss in first st. 6 sts
Rnd 2: lch (does not count asst throughout), (2dc) in each st to end, join with a ss in first st. 12 sts
Rnds 3-4: lch, ldc in each st to end, join with a ss in first st.
Rnd 5: lch, working in back loop only, ldc in each st to end, join with ass in first st.
Stuff.
Rnd 6: lch, (dc2tog) 6 times, join with a ss in first st. 6 sts
Fasten off.

Head:
With yarn Band working into a magic ring, 3dc into ring. Fasten off. Stitch the side ends together.

To make up: Attach head to body. With yarn B, French knot the dots and embroider the centre line.

Flower

Rnd 1: With yarn B and working into a magic ring, 6dc, join with a ss in first st. 6 sts
Change to yarn A.
Rnd 2: With yarn A, (ch3, ltr, ch3, ss) all in first st, *(ss, ch3, ltr, ch3, ss)
all in next st; repeat from * to end 5 times.

To finish: Weave in yarn ends into the flower.
